Color tables
Color tables
or false color enhancements are used to assist in the identification of
significant image features. In the case of infrared imagery, the
detected signal relates to the temperature of the cloud or
ground.
The infrared (IR) color tables used are designed to highlight specific
temperatures that will make it easy for the meteorologist to diagnose
cloud
top temperature that helps interpret the height of the cloud top
(storm).
The color table used in the IR image here was developed at Colorado
State
University. -- Dan
